Experimental self-portrait

Photography exercise

Time: 30–40 min

Tools: Camera or smartphone

Goal: Practice taking a self-portrait and consider how prevailing norms can be questioned through photography

Transversive competences: L2, L4, L7

Prevailing norms and stereotypes affect society’s views on what is seen as normal or strange, beautiful or ugly, trendy or old-fashioned. Photography can build or maintain these views but it can also question them. Take an experimental self-portrait that questions prevailing norms.
